Job Summary

Under general supervision provides clinical services as a doctoral level correctional care psychologist for the Denver Sheriff Department Services will include individual therapy group therapy and diagnostic assessment for incarcerated individuals Also provides case coordination to facilitate referrals to specialty care as needed Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical teaching and leadership for other staff members Is actively involved in quality improvement data monitoring supervising psychology trainees and research/educational activities The Correctional Care staff provides care at either Downtown Detention Center or the Denver County Jail These environments of care have a higher level of clinical acuity and environmental hazard than inpatient and ambulatory settings based on the nature of the facility The detention centers employ a high level of security which impacts daily working conditions including both personal and institutional safety and operations Environmental awareness critical thinking decisive decision-making skills are required in the correctional care settingQualifications

  • This position is funded by the Office of Civil Forensic Mental Health OCFMHand is responsible for forensic psychological services in the Denver Restoration Transition Unit The program consists Participants at any time Conferences with OCFMH regarding each patient Provide ongoing written verbal communication to state regarding changes patients progress Have knowledge provision legal related education competency restoration programming supervision students Diagnoses evaluates treats emotional behavioral mental disorders psychopathology resulting from physical dysfunction illness disease disability Conducts administers interprets tests assessing intellectual abilities personality characteristics cognitive skills neuropsychological characteristics writes reports appropriate Conducts intakes admissions discharges patients manages patient care Exercises legal responsibilities involuntary holds certifications release actions Utilizes interviewing medical record history review psychological techniques assess needs Prepares updates maintains medical records progress notes reports summaries Participates teaching psychology integrated trainees Performs clinical supervision entails work staff master's doctoral-level interns candidates licensure fellows Residents nursing students professional trainees Consults collaborates professionals family stakeholders coordinate diagnosis management intervention treatment Plans organizes conducts participates educational seminars workshops community education team-building seminars workshops field psychology mental health Assists developing department budgets necessary All job applicants safety-sensitive positions must pass pre-employment drug test once conditional employment made
