    Job Description Electrical & Instrumentation Pre-App Technician - Decatur Complex FacilityE&I Pre-Apprenticeship ProgramThis is a part time, hourly position

    Position Summary:


    We are looking for individuals ready to begin a new career adventure offering new challenges and responsibilities within one of our Decatur Complex facilities.

    We will provide you with a unique opportunity to get started with a college education, in addition to online learning, job shadowing, and hands-on interactive methods.

    QualificationsStudents must be at least 17 years oldHigh School Senior on track to graduate May 2025Maintain a cumulative 2.25 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higherMeet attendance requirements in school and at ADMUpon selection into the program, students will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment background process as administered per ADM policy/procedures.

    Job Introduction:
    You will learn about the fundamentals related to:Basic knowledge of process sensors/transmittersCalibration Device Standards and Equipment - Calibrated Frequency and documentationBasic knowledge of electrical safety devices (breakers, fuses, etc.)

    Troubleshooting 4-20mA instrument control loopsAssist in the installation and wiring of new/modified electrical equipmentTroubleshooting motor control circuitsMaintain accurate and thorough knowledge of manuals, publications and files concerning equipment, programs, and production processesOn the job training will be provided alongside a mentorJob Requirements:

    Ideal candidate should possess strong people and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-taskPossess excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, as well as a motivated personality with a willingness to take initiativeProficient in the use of a computer with experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferredMust be able to hear and speak clearly; read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing to effectively communicate in person or by phone.

    Position requires sitting for prolonged periods of time; standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing a ladder, kneeling, and operating a keyboard.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.

    Students must adhere to high school attendance policy and also adhere to ADM's attendance policyRestrictions:

    Under no circumstance will a pre-apprentice be permitted to drive or ride in a motor vehicle while on ADM property.

    Pre-apprentices are not allowed to perform any work prohibited by the Department of Labor (DOL) as described in the federal youth employment regulations including the DOL's Hazardous Occupations Orders which prohibit minors to work with power-driven hoisting equipment (forklifts, skid steers, backhoes, manlifts, etc.), power-driven chain saws or any cutting machinery, among others.

    Upon selection into the program, students will be required to successfully pass ADM's pre-employment background and screening requirements.
