    Job Description Salary:
    $160,000-$175,000 DOE


    Dakota Carrier Network (DCN) , a provider of high-speed broadband communication services, serving North Dakota customers with locations within the state and through its partnerships, is searching for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to direct the fiscal functions of the organization.

    Job Summary:


    The CFO establishes and maintains the company's financial policies and procedures by providing operational and administrative direction for accounting, budgeting, purchasing, billing, collections, and cash management.


    The CFO is responsible for ensuring soundness of the company's financial structure and managing the company's relationships with financial institutions and governmental agencies.


    Primary Responsibilities:


    Directs the activities of finance, accounting, budgeting, purchasing, billing, and collection; develops and documents operating procedures for the accounting department; administers the department's annual operating budget and work plan.

    Participates in the development of fiscal policies and sets objectives, policies, and procedures to safeguard and administer company assets.

    Investigates financing sources and negotiates terms with financing institutions; optimizes the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiates appropriate strategies to enhance cash position; provides strategic financial input on decision making issues affecting the company.

    Establishes and maintains accounting policies; develops and carries out guidelines for controls and internal auditing system.

    Monitors maintenance of general ledger accounts; supervises the monthly closing of the general ledger and prepares the monthly financial statements.

    Provides accurate analysis of financial statements, reports findings and makes recommendations to the CEO and the Board of Governors.
    Completes financial reports for all necessary outside entities or groups. Interacts with the company's auditing firm on reporting requirements and tax preparation.

    Assists the CEO in developing the income and expense budget objectives and the annual operating budget, after receiving input from all departments; continually seeks improvement of the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets; analyzes deviations relative to the annual budget and determines the cause of such deviations.

    Develops a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism, which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the company.

    Develops procedures and information for short and long-range planning purpose; participates in the development of the company's business plans; evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, and introduction of new

    programs/strategies.

    Develops billing, collection, and credit policies; continually seeks improvement of processes such as: managing the company's cash flow; accounts payable and customer billing.

    Oversees the development of procedures for the procurement and provisioning of material and supplies.

    Provides technical information required in preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets, including needs for upgrading software and resources needed to ensure timely response to needs of user departments.

    Maintains a high level of awareness regarding industry changes and participates in ongoing training to keep abreast of technical developments and the skills needed to perform the job.

    Performs data analysis and performs all other duties as assigned by the CEO.

    Required Skills/Abilities:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial and business documents.
    Ability to make effective presentations on financial topics to DCN staff and the Board of Governors.
    Ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization while possessing excellent communications skills.
    Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting

    Required Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    Minimum 10 years' accounting experience with at least 5 years functioning in a CFO or Director Accounting/Finance capacity.
    Experience managing a team in a collaborative and self-directed environment.
    Expert knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles and standards
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

    Preferred qualifications:
    Master's degree in related field.
    CPA designation.
    Microsoft Power BI experience

    Physical Requirements:
    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    Some travel required for work and training.
