    Job Description

    We seek a Technical Project Manager to help us with the execution of the AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC).

    AIxCC is a two-year competition that brings together the best and brightest in AI and cybersecurity to safeguard the software critical to all Americans. AIxCC will ask competitors to design novel AI systems to secure this critical code and will award a cumulative $29.5 million in prizes to teams with the best systems, including $7 million in prizes to small businesses to empower entrepreneurial innovation during the initial phase of AIxCC.

    AIxCC will unite top AI companies with DARPA and ARPA-H to make their cutting-edge technology and expertise available for challenge competitors and facilitating the development of state-of-the-art cybersecurity systems.

    The successful candidate will engage with the open source community, Linux Foundation and DARPA sponsors throughout the AI Cyber Challenge to ensure that the challenge will support the open source community. The successful candidate will also build an offboarding plan in conjunction with Linux Foundation Staff and the OpenSSF TAC to ensure that the winning solutions are easily adopted within the OpenSSF.

    Contract Rate: $70-$100/hr depending on experience

    Term: Till Sept 1 2025

    As part of the OpenSSF team, you'll work with other OpenSSF and Linux Foundation staff, and the larger open source community to ensure that AIxCC delivers meaningful solutions. You'll help ensure that leaders within the open source community are kept apprised of progress, and consulted during challenge construction. You'll also ensure that there is a plan in place for adoption of the winning solutions into the OpenSSF. Your work will drive improved participation, communication, and efficiency across the organization's many events, projects, member organizations, and strategic partnerships.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating the execution of Linux Foundation accountabilities for AIxCC
    • Reporting on and tracking AIxCC operational status and identifying any needs for coordination with other OpenSSF or Linux Foundation staff
    • Creating program plans, and tracking execution to ensure success of the program.
    • Manage monthly financial reporting and forecasting for the project.
    • Create plans and manage the execution of Events and Marketing) to support AIxCC.
    • Ensuring that Linux Foundation and OpenSSF policies are adhered to, and best practices are adopted.

    Qualifications
    • US Citizen
    • Duties must be performed within the US
    • Oral and written communication skills: you write down action items, follow up with meeting notes, and have a penchant for documenting process and goals
    • Cooperative leadership skills: you understand the nuances required when working with volunteers, and that our mandate is to serve
    • Problem solving skills: you aren't afraid of a little ambiguity, a hard problem, or a sticky situation and work productively to resolve issues
    • Demonstrated ability to understand, operate, and clearly communicate in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
    • Experience working with open source communities: you understand the open source ecosystem and the challenges and opportunities it faces
    • Comfort with frequent travel (~2x per month on average)
