    Vice President, Finance & Accounting

    Full-time hybrid position with modest travel requirements

    Leap is an insurtech business seeking a VP, Finance to support our rapid expansion. This is an opportunity for the right person to join an exciting startup as an executive with significant prospects for growth. Joining a small firm means that you must be a self-starter and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This hire will be an integral member of the executive team, supporting the CEO in a highly diverse and impactful role.

    The right person will have prior experience in accounting, forecasting, FP&A, P&L responsibility and making go/no-go decisions on new products. He or she will be heavily involved in the annual audit, Strategy, Cash Management, Budgeting, Forecasting, Financial Governance, Risk Management, Expense Controls and Capital Planning.

    Since 2018, Leap has been a provider of innovative occupancy and risk management solutions for the multifamily and single-family rental markets. Its products serve to make apartment and single-family leases more affordable, providing insurance alternatives to security deposits and guarantors. Leap completed a Series A funding round in 2023, has annual revenue growth of 100%+ and will continue to grow organically and via acquisition.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop forecast models to help inform financial planning and critical business decisions;
    • Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and executive team for strategic planning purposes;
    • Lead a 2-3 person Accounting team, instituting overall process improvements and accounts receivable workflows;
    • Design and develop the optimal capital structure and co-lead debt and equity rounds;
    • Process the financial activities of an organization to maximize a company's profits and plan for its growth;
    • Have involvement in and deep knowledge of all operational aspects of the business to advise on strategy and new products;
    • Coordinate the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports;
    • Prepare reporting and presentations for board meetings;
    • Be a leader and mentor to other team members in areas of leadership, financial acumen, and process improvements.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university. MBA and/or CPA preferred;
    • At least 2 years in a Big 4 or similar role;
    • 5+ years of experience in Finance, FP&A or similar role. Insurance experience a plus;
    • Investment banking experience or M&A experience a plus;
    • Expert in Excel and in designing forecasting, budgeting models and management dashboards. Salesforce experience a plus;
    • In a startup, everyone is hands on. In this role, the right candidate may have to record journal entries in a pinch or perform a financial audit of a real estate client;
    • Comfortable with change and thrive on new challenges. You're adaptable and understand that a company like Leap is always iterating, pivoting and finding new and better ways to do things;
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills; both written and oral.
