    THE OPPORTUNITY

    We have an immediate opening in Greenville, South Carolina for a Tire Designer Engineer whose responsibilities include defining and designing the tread and sidewall. Design the respective parts to meet tire performance criteria, manufacturing constraints while ensuring respect for quality, cost, and timing constraints. The designer can support passenger, light truck and long-haul tire designs. Applicant will also be responsible for improving processes and mentoring new hires.

    Situated in Greenville, South Carolina, the sprawling Michelin Americas Research Center (MARC) campus is home to approximately 650 talented employees, including materials researchers, product designers, scientists, engineers, test technicians and individuals in a variety of support roles.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Design CAD models of the tread and sidewall.
    • Ensure design meets tire performance requirements and mold manufacturing constraints.
    • Create parametric 3D CAD Master Models to be used to produce all sizes in a tireline.
    • Create associated documentation for use of Master Models by other users.
    • Create and improve new methods or tools to improve quality or efficiency.
    • Monitor quality results to ensure designs are meeting manufacturing and performance requirements.
    • Work with other departments to resolve quality issues.
    • Animation of processes, tools, and methods for training sessions.
    • Anticipate obstacles considering next steps.
    • Tutoring of new hires
    WHAT YOU WILL BRING
    • Understanding of 3D modeling and software.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
    • Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Effective problem-solving skills and process/product relationship knowledge.
    • B.S. degree in scientific field and 0-5 years' experience in process engineering or quality control manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to complete training and certification of Michelin Design School (Approx 9 weeks) is required.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to become proficient in internal software systems.
    • Programming, Power BI, data management experience is a plus.
    • Attention to detail, data accuracy.
    • Knowledge of Catia design software is preferred, but not required.
