    The Boeing Company is looking for Software Engineer (Mission Systems) to join the KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Avionics (MSA) software team located in Tukwila, WA, within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS); Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization
    The MSA team supports U.S
    Air Force and international KC-46 customers and other platforms, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that provide tactical situational awareness to the flight crew and on-board network systems
    The latter enables net-centric applications and beyond line of sight communication for the warfighter via secure and non-secure ground networks during KC-46 aerial refueling missions
    This position will include a variety of software development assignments, such as new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Internal Research and Development (IR&D) activities
    The successful candidate enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction, quality and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-project environment
    Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%

    Position Responsibilities:

    Experienced Level:

    • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
    • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
    • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
    • Performs software project management and software supplier management functions
    • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
    • Executes and documents software research and development projects
    • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
    • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

    Works under general direction Position Responsibilities:

    Senior Level:

    • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
    • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
    • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
    • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
    • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
    • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
    • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
    • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
    • Works under minimal direction This position is hybrid
    This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
    • 3+ years of experience with UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows development environment
    3+ years of experience programming in C++ Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


    • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with JAVA
    • Experience developing embedded (real-time) software
    • Experience with bus communications and protocols including MIL-STD-1553
    • Experience with Electromagnetic Support Measures (ESM), Passive Trackers and/or Link16
    • Experience with open architecture constructs like Open Mission Systems (OMS)
    • Hardware and Software Integration experience Typical Education/Experience: Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g

    $112,200 - $151,800
