- Administer and manage the middle school athletic program in a manner that is within Board policy and consistent with established district procedures and IESA rules and regulations.
- Keep the middle school administration and District Athletic Director informed of important accomplishments, needs and problems in all areas of the operation of the athletic activities.
- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, screening and recommending of qualified persons to fill openings on the middle school athletics coaching staff.
- Provide information to the middle school administration annually when middle school head coaches are evaluated.
- Assume general responsibility for the setup, proper supervision, ticket sales, assigning event workers, and reporting results to the District Athletic Director for all middle school home events.
- Coordinate the operation of the concession stand at home events and conduct fund raisers as needed to support the middle school athletic program.
- Foster a climate between athletic programs in which students can develop good citizenship through self-discipline, self-direction and cooperative participation.
- Hold parent/athlete meetings and coaches' meetings.
- Places into operation and enforces appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of extra-curricular activities.
- Enforces the IESA and district academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each middle school activity and verifies each student's eligibility.
- Work with district personnel to ensure that student-athletes are participating in their legal place of attendance/residency.
- Establish and adheres to a regular schedule of inspection of all middle school athletic education facilities and installations to maintain and improve their safety.
- Play a key role in developing, promoting, and modeling principles of good sportsmanship.
- Coordinate with the director of buildings & grounds for the installation of new and additional equipment for the middle school athletic program.
- Maintain current rosters of all students participating in the middle school athletic programs.
- Oversees the keeping of all necessary administrative records related to middle school athletic activities.
- Prepare and administer the middle school athletic program building budget.
- Actively promote continuing participation of athletes from middle school and work toward development of skill sequences in the middle school leading to high school participation.
- Develops and maintains a recognition program for middle school athletes.
- Works with coaches to ensure equipment inventory is accurate and current.
- Assume other responsibilities and perform other such duties as may be assigned by the District Athletic Director, high school, middle school, and district administration.

SUPERVISOR:

JOB GOAL:
Under the direction of the middle school administration, and in consultation with the District Athletic Director, assist with the overall operation of the middle school athletic programs.
Performance Responsibilities:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Year-long differential position. Position receives additional period(s) of released time for duties and responsibilities where scheduling permits.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education.
SALARY RANGE:
Stipend per Differential Schedule.
