    Job Title: Help Desk Technician

    Reports to: IT Director

    Salaried or Hourly: Hourly

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Normal Work Hours: 40 hours per week

    Salary: $17.00 -$19.00

    General Purpose: The help desk technician shall provide basic, ongoing technical support to staff and students in support of the mission of the Vanguard School. This technician will be responsible for complying with Information Technology Department standards and directives for the work to be accomplished. This position reports to and is evaluated by the IT Director.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide basic, front-line technical support to school staff and students.
    • Troubleshoot and repair minor computer and peripheral equipment issues.
    • Support school users with network access issues and reset passwords as needed.
    • Provide logistical support for new computers and peripherals (physical setup & placement).
    • Perform specific technical work for school-wide technology initiatives, including network cabling.
    • Management of accounts and reporting functions for select IT applications.
    • Document work performed and track support requests as directed.
    • Collaborate with staff on software use regarding technical requirements and limitations.
    • Maintain technology inventory records for the school.
    • Support technology for online testing.
    • Participate in on-going technical support training as required.
    • Perform other technology related duties as assigned.
    • Continue to learn and grow professionally.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent. Industry relevant certifications and/or experience in education technology preferred.
    • Ability to work with as part of a team; must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, be able to listen, understand and analyze problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing, understand and execute oral and written instructions.
    • Familiarity with using and troubleshooting common operating systems such as Windows, ChromeOS, or MacOS.
    • Familiarity with computer hardware components and common business software applications such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud apps.
    • Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to maintain and repair computer equipment; ability to carry-out maintenance plans and repair schedules for technical resources.

    Experience:

    Experience providing technical support on a variety of hardware, software, and operating systems. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
