    Job Responsibilities

    With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

    This position is located at the Department of Mental Health Crafts-Farrow, 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC

    As the Food Service Specialist II (Nourishment), you will work under the Operation Manager and/or Kitchen Manager preparing sandwiches and individually prescribed nourishment bags for patients. Prepares all food in compliance with department, local, state, and federal guidelines.

    Responsibilities for this Food Service Specialist II include but are not limited to:
    • Prepares sandwiches for nourishment bags and Trayline following tally sheet requirements.
    • Labels nourishment bags, organizing bags according to date, time of day, campus and patient unit.
    • Prepares individual prescribed patient nourishment bags. Bags are organized by date, time of day, campus and patient unit. Bags are placed on racks and rolled into the appropriate walk-in cooler.
    • Restocks work area with supplies and shelf-stable nourishment items.
    • Maintains communication with Nutritionists and Diet Office Program Assistants.
    • Follows DHEC safe food handling regulations. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work area.
    • Provides required services in a pleasant helpful, and positive manner to demonstrate good customer service.
    • Adheres to patients' privacy and "Bill of Rights" standard requirements while performing duties.
    Minimum and Additional Requirements

    There are no minimum training and experience requirements for this class.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

    Additional Comments

    The selected candidate must have the physical ability to manually lift up to forty (40) pounds, be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, and climb stairs. May encounter temperatures ranging from 20 degrees F to 400 degrees F. This is an essential position during an emergency.
