    Description:

    Position Purpose:
    The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting the physicians during Endoscopy procedures. Additional responsibilities include cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes and equipment, room set up, turnover, and supply maintenance.


    What you will Do:

    • Assists the physician and RN with specific diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures such as obtaining and labeling of specimens and assisting in procedures including ERCP.
    • Demonstrates technical competency in the cleaning and disinfection process of endoscopes and accessory equipment.
    • Assists the RN in the implementation of the established plan of care (positioning of patients and transporting patients). Responds to emergency situations as directed by the RN.
    • Assists in cleaning and setting up endoscopy procedure rooms for the day, between cases and after the last case of the day.
    • Responsible for and assists with departmental paperwork. Documents accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Maintains confidentiality of data, patient and staff.

    Hours/Schedule:
    Full Time; 40 Hours/Week;


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School graduate or GED
    • Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required
    OR


    • Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.
    • Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
    • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
    • Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
