Network Engineer (Edge Operations) Level II | Bethesda, MD | Remote/Hybrid | $82,000 - $91,467We're working with a leading federal IT transformer driving mission-critical modernization for the NIH on this exciting opportunity.
We are looking for a high-impact Network Engineer to manage edge operations, optimize high-availability routing and switching, and secure the digital backbone of a major public health agency.
This is your chance to step into a Level II role where you will tackle complex IP security challenges and WAN services using Agile Kanban methodologies.

The Role- Deliver peak network availability and quality across global routing, switching, and IP security protocols.
- Lean into the Kanban methodology during daily stand-ups to triage and resolve high-priority incidents within strict SLAs.
- Serve as a "Queue Manager" and shift lead, ensuring escalated network issues are assigned and resolved with speed and precision.
- Execute proactive network monitoring, deep-dive analysis, and critical maintenance/patching to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to implement continuous improvements in network tools, hardware evolution, and communication strategies.
- 5+ years of specialized experience in Network Services, focusing on Routing, Switching, and WAN.
- Proven expertise in IP Security and maintaining high-availability enterprise environments.
- Must be able to obtain an NIH/CIT Public Trust clearance (US Citizenship typically required for this process).
- Strong preference for CCNA or CCNP certifications and a background in cybersecurity operations.
- Experience with network monitoring tools, documentation standards, and Agile/Kanban workflows.
