    Our client, a pioneer in hair wellness is seeking a Director of Research, Development, and Formulation. This company has developed clinically effective solutions for hair growth that provide support for people at every step of their hair journey. The Director of R&D and Formulation will be part of the Research & Innovation team, overseeing product formulation and technical substantiation in the interest of our consumers needs

    The Director, R&D and Formulation will be a part at the company. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the overall science & innovation, clinical affairs, regulatory, supply chain, product development and marketing teams.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead team to evaluate scope, cost, and risk associated with R&D programs for new products and ingredients.
    • Lead Product Formulation and Technical Substantiation, either internally or with external parties (such as CMOs and CROs), in support of all ingredients and products or scientific postulates.
    • Ensure consumer needs are translated into effective product specifications to deliver a product that meets the needs of our customers in collaboration with the Product Development, Regulatory & Marketing team.
    • Bring thought leadership and extensive knowledge/know-how around nutritional supplement R&D to Nutrafol (all formats).
    • Work with the internal Innovation team to gain alignment and achieve project objectives.
    • Drive the translation of scientific insights into relevant benefits to elevate scientific communications and present cross functionally to Product Development & Marketing, Education and Clinical Affairs.
    • Ensure projects are carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, policy & procedure requirements.
    • Partner externally with suppliers, vendors, labs, and manufacturers to support current and future project needs.
    • Lead claims evolution and substantiation in support of current and novel ingredients and products briefed in through Product Development & Marketing.
    • Partner with Product Development & Marketing and Supply Chain leaders to effectively prioritize, resource, and execute our innovation pipeline.
    • Provide constructive feedback, mentors and supports team members to assist in building skills and career development.
    • Participate as a senior manager to improve the environment and product innovation process with cross functional teams.
    • Work with patent attorneys to provide scientific content in drafting new patent applications.

    Education & Required Skills:

    • 10+ years experience in R&D product formulation for nutritional supplements/nutraceuticals
    • 5+ years experience in people management, coaching, or development
    • Bachelor's degree with a Sciences major
    • Master's in Science or PhD
    • Solid understanding of bringing products to life throughout the product innovation process
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Possess a strong network of industry contacts for sourcing ingredients and partnering with vendors and labs
    • Ability to collaborate within a team, and partner closely with cross-functional teams
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities & projects, including adaptability in a quickly-changing & growing environment
    • Adept with budget management and resource allocation
    • Publications and/or patents
    • Knowledge of Hair Biology and/or Skin Biology
    • Experience in or knowledge of product formulation for topical formulations

    Compensation: $160,000 - $190,000 plus full benefits including remote work, health package, 401K, Flexible PTO and more
