    Description
    This position is located in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection, Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LAKE). LAKE has one of the largest, most complex Visitor and Resource Protection programs in the National Park System. The park's boundaries contain 1.5 million acres that are visited by up to 10 million visitors annually.

    The park contains 7 marinas with concession operations, 9 campgrounds, four entrance stations, 237 miles of paved roads and over 800 miles of unimproved roads, special park use permits (over 180 per year) There are 3 structural fire engines, an aviation unit, and a major wildfire program with three initial response engines.

    Responsible for organization, and effectiveness training, and scheduling of staff and support services in the Division.
    Manages and maintains external relations with other agencies.
    Oversight and leadership for Emergency Services Support (Aviation, EMS, SAR, Fire, Court Services, Physical Security, etc).
    Serve as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer performing duties including detection and investigation of violations of federal criminal laws.

    You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.

    In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

    You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

    You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.

    You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.

    You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
    You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

    If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

    You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 7 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
