40-48 hours per pay bi-weekly
3:45pm - 12:15am, 2nd shift hours (Monday - Friday)
8:00am - 4:30pm, 1st shift hours (weekends & holidays)
Includes every 4th weekend and holiday rotation with on-call time from 4:30pm - 11:30pm
The LPN Shift Supervisor, under the supervision and direction of the RN, SPD Department Manager, administers routine services in SPD.
Supervises and responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the SPD department following established infection prevention practices.
Assembles and prepares surgical instrumentation and equipment.Collaborates, directs and checks the work of others including the SPD Technician, SPD Technician II and SPD Surgical Technician to provide efficient and timely service to our customers.
Assists in tracking inventory, reviewing, recording and recovering charges through the facility's computer system. Participates in recording infection prevention information and participates in the performance improvement activities within the department. Handles the SPD responsibilities of the morgue. Supervises and directs the departmental functions on a shift-to-shift basis, consulting the department manager as needed.
Must be conscientious regarding procedures and capable of accepting pressure assignments, clerical assignments and all duties relative to the department.
He/she must be physically able to perform all activities on the SPD credentialing inventory as indicated in the job description.
This position includes call time as assigned by the department manager and does not entail any direct patient care. Orientation would fluctuate between first and second shift.Requirements
Graduate from accredited School of Practical Nursing with current LPN licensure with Medication and IV certification from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
Will continue to maintain licensure and competency by completing a minimum of 24 hours of Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) courses within each two-year period, corresponding to license renewal.
Certification in Sterile Processing from HSPA or CBSPD is recommended (or obtained after 1 year of employment). Must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment. Familiarity of surgical instrumentation is a plus. Experience with inventory processes is helpful but not mandatory. Must have a strong working knowledge of Infection Control practices. Must be able to prioritize assignments and tasks to be completed. Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
