    Description

    The Director of the Fitness Center/Head Coach is responsible for the organization management and supervision of all aspects of the college's Fitness Center.

    The Director serves as the head coach for one assigned sport.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Coordinate and enforce policies and procedures regarding operation and of usage of the fitness center.
    • Select schedule supervise evaluate and ensure ongoing training for all fitness center staff.
    • Direct an effective safety management program and procedures for emergency care of participants including training/certification for staff in First Aid/CPR/AED and conducting safety inspections of equipment and facilities.
    • Develop and execute a system of routine equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure proper working conditions and adherence to warranty requirements.
    • Collaborate with faculty instructing fitness center classes to provided needed support and resources.
    • Maintain budget for staffing and operations and maintain accurate records.
    • Provide introduction and orientation on the use of fitness center equipment for participants.
    • Manage process for ID check-in/out procedures.
    • Implement initiatives to recruit students to use fitness center and to register for fitness center classes.
    • Prepare reports regarding participation and equipment usage.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
    • Fulfill duties of Head Coach for Softball as follows:
    • Recruit talented student athletes both in and out of the Lake Land district.
    • Organize and administer daily practice.
    • Make decisions and arrange for purchase of equipment uniforms etc.
    • Select and supervise assistant and volunteer assistant coaches.
    • Maintain accurate records and operate within budget constraints.
    • Provide for bench personnel and related materials for games.
    • Provide for travel meals and lodging arrangements as needed.
    • Assist in scheduling softball events.
    • Organize and administer team fundraising as needed.
    • Drive vehicle to road games as needed.
    • Assist athletes in transition to the next level of competition and education.
    • Report to and work with athletic director in all aspects of responsibilities.
    • Serve as a positive role model for student athletes.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree

    Experience Requirements:
    Background in fitness/exercise field.
    Previous experience as a player or coach in the assigned sport.


    Knowledge:
    Fitness experience and knowledge;community college athletics;coaching methods and motivational techniques;and rules of assigned sport.


    Skills:

    Personal Requirements:
    Ability to work effectively with the administration,faculty and staff of the College,high school coaches,students and parents.
    Versatility,positive attitude,enthusiasm,high energy level,and strong work ethic.
    Valid driver's license.
    At least 21 years of age.
