- Evaluate and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial roofing projects.
- Consult with engineers, architects, and clients to discuss project specifications and address any potential challenges.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to measure and assess specific project requirements.
- Research and obtain competitive pricing for materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete various roofing projects.
- Provide detailed proposals and estimates in alignment with company standards and project timelines.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to communicate pricing strategies and ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current market conditions, roofing materials, and construction techniques.
- Support the department in value engineering and cost-saving strategies without compromising quality and safety.
- Utilize estimating software and other tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the estimating process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist in securing profitable contracts for the company.
- Proven experience in commercial roofing estimating role.
- Strong knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Exceptional mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English to liaise with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and relevant building codes applicable to commercial roofing projects.
- Experience conducting site visits and measurements is highly preferred.
- A degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a related field is an asset but not required.
