    Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Designer for our office in Baton Rouge, LA

    The Civil Designer will work independently with project team to create design drawings, layouts, reports, and CADD products to meet the project requirements. Knowledge of functional areas of civil engineering including sewer and water design, site civil, stormwater design, right of ways, and field work. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D and knowledgeable of MicroStation. ArcGIS is a plus.

    Your Primary Responsibilities will include

    Essential Functions
    • Analyze topographic data, create project models in CAD, prepare detailed technical drawings of various construction projects, assist in development of budget requirements, including studies related to civil engineering projects.
    • Review construction plans for compliance with design specifications.
    • Assist in development of material specifications; determines quantities and cost estimates of projects; and research records to determine existing project conditions.

    What you'll need:

    Required Education and Experience:
    • 2- year course in drafting design and/or college degree
    • Certification as a CADD Professional is preferred
    • 3+ years of related work experience, preferably in the civil engineering, survey, or mapping fields. Experience must include preparing design drawings, plans, sections, and details.

    • Proficiency with computer hardware and software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, email, and internet browser programs.
    • Ability to understand and operate a GPS unit to collect data and import the data into the software.
    • Ability to excel in a detail-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy.
    Supervisory Responsibility
    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Travel
    Regular travel is not a requirement of this position; however, occasional travel may be necessary on a project-specific basis.

    Preferred Education and Experience
    • Technical Civil Engineering related background
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred with experience using survey data, developing surfaces, creating pipe networks, feature lines and working with DEMs and lidar data.
