    Description

    Bio-Rad is seeking a dynamic Fluidics Engineer to join their Digital Biology Group located in Pleasanton, CA. You will be an integral part of a diverse team dedicated to creating innovative products utilizing their core partitioning technology. Working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager for Microfluidics, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge instruments. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to take projects from concept to product launch.     Responsibilities:
    • Lead projects focused on microfluidic consumables and fluidic sub-systems, covering design, testing, verification, and product transfer.
    • Apply systems engineering principles to design cost-effective, reliable systems that meet customer needs and business requirements.
    • Conduct experiments, utilize multiphysics modeling, and perform empirical testing to assess system performance and enhance device design.
    • Ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards through design control processes like risk management and verification testing.
    • Collaborate with external vendors to facilitate the transition of devices from concept to commercialization.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineers, Instrument Engineers, Assay Developers, and Software Developers throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Effectively communicate results and provide guidance on critical design decisions based on data and observations.
    Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in microfluidics, particularly in designing and testing devices.
    • Hands-on experience with microfluidic components such as pumps, valves, and sensors, along with firmware knowledge.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and organized approach.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to drive effective decision-making.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering with a focus on microfluidics or equivalent.
    • Experience with droplet-based microfluidic systems, specifically ddPCR.
    • Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks, additional experience in software for microfluidic design is a plus.
    • Knowledge of risk management, usability, reliability practices, and multiphysics modeling software.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, design of experiments, and biological sciences is advantageous.
