    The Queer & Trans Resource Center is based on the philosophy that all students deserve their identities to be celebrated and honored by the San Francisco State University community.

    Rooted in the ancestral legacy of queer activists and visionaries and San Francisco State University's commitment to social justice and community engagement, the Queer & Trans Resource Center endeavors to offer LGBTQQIA-related events, services, and resources to students. The Queer & Trans Resource Center will also serve as an umbrella organization linking various student organizations such as Queer Alliance, Pride Committee, and CEASE/SAFE Place that work to create events and resources for the LGBTQQIA community on campus.

    Job Description:

    The BIPOC Coordinator will aim to develop, coordinate, conduct events and authentic relationships with the QTBIPOC community at San Francisco State University. They will be in charge of BIPOC visibility when it comes to QTRC's events & representing QTRC as a whole. The BIPOC coordinator will also be decentering whiteness in Queer and Trans spaces and build solidarity with Black, Indigenous and other students of color at San Francisco State University. The BIPOC coordinator will primarily focus on events and developing relationships and solidarity with other QTBIPOC students.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Conduct an anti-Blackness training, may be in the form of 1 workshop, multiple workshops, or a seminar. Topics addressed in this training may include but are not limited to campus culture, economic, social inequalities, educational disparities, sex work, etc.
    • Responsible for holding QTRC accountable to have intersectional QTBIPOC events, office hours, and meetings. Ensure QTRC maintains a safe and welcoming intersectional BIPOC Queer and Trans space and program.
    • Coordinates a minimum of 2 specialized QTBIPOC sponsored events per semester i.e; Social Mixers once a month and consciousness workshops to teach individuals sensitivities and navigating QTBIPOC spaces. The QTRC Director will assist in having these events occur.
    • Holds monthly meetings with QTBIPOC related student organizations i.e. E.G.A.Y. Queer Alliance, Lost N' Found, etc. to solicit involvement and input in QTRC's event programming and learning outcomes. Meetings will also allow QTRC to provide some support for related student organizations. The QTRC Director and/or QTRC Assistant Director will assist in having these meetings occur.
    • Meet with liaisons such as students, faculty, staff from various depts i.e. student housing, residential life, LGBTQ+ Student Life, Queer Studies Minor, Women Gender Studies, etc. to solicit their input and involvement in programming events and assisting with students' needs. The QTRC Director and/or QTRC Assistant Director will assist in having these meetings occur.
    • Hold QTBIPOC student office hours to actively listen to students and any microaggressions they may experience.
    • Offer referral services that bridges students to resources & spaces they may not know about.
    Qualifications
    • Current student at San Francisco State University taking at least 4 units for graduates or 6 units for undergraduates.
    • Must have working knowledge and understanding of LGBTQQIA & BIPOC culture.
    • Must be able to work 17-20 hours per week.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Preferred experience in coordinating conferences, workshops, and/or events.
    • Preferred Ethnic, Women & Gender, Queer and/or Trans emphasis in studies.
