$23 - $28/hr. on W2
Location:
Charlotte, NC
Duration: 12 months contract
Shift – 2nd Shift Mon – Sat (OT IS REQUIRED. 2 hours of OT daily and 1-2 Saturdays for 8 hours.)
2nd shift Expected Working hours: 4:30 pm-3 am; Typical shift: 4:30 pm-1 am.
Job Overview
The Welder II is responsible for performing precise layout and fit-up work using fixtures or positioners, and welding various metals utilizing Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG, or Submerged arc processes.
This position requires you to assemble fabricated metal products efficiently, ensuring strong, smooth, and consistent welds while adhering to safety protocols and reporting any equipment hazards.
ResponsibilitiesPerforms layout and fits up work using fixtures or positioners
Welds various metals using Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG or Submerged arc processes
Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production
Operates the equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment to the supervisor
Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent
Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process
Performs a variety of brazing functions encompassing all materials
Performs hand grinding and forming work as needed
Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
Communicates effectively with others
Assists other individuals in area when needed
Education Required
High School Diploma or GED
Must Haves
Must Pas 6G Testing
Must have wall pipe experience
MIG Experience
Qualifications Required
Ability to pass an onsite 6G certification test
Two-year experience in manufacturing welding using Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG or Submerged arc processes
Preferred
ASME certification
Knowledge of the welding process and equipment
Ability to weld vertical, flat and overhead welds with a good penetration and a quality appearance
Ability to operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torches
Math skills including fractions and angles
Ability to read tape measures and angle finders
Ability to read blueprint drawings and cut lists
Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments
Trained in overhead crane operation
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down and overhead
Ability to climb and work from a ladder
Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches
Able to work weekends and over-time
Dress Code for assignment
Long pants (jeans will work), PPE, shirt and steel-toed shoes, welding jacket, welding hood, and leather gloves.
The site will provide bump caps, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
While available at the site, please ensure the worker has their PPE when reporting.
