    The Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to collaborate on research in the Division of Vascular Surgery. This position is open for a person with a doctoral degree (PhD or MD), who has experience and publications.

    In addition to their own project/experimental procedures, the Postdoctoral Research Associate is required to work with other lab members and assist with their own projects. The primary purpose of this appointment is to engage in advanced research training. The successful applicant will focus on contributing to the research initiatives of the department under the principal investigator/mentor's mentorship and interaction with collaborators.

    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop research projects and individually perform experiments within the Department of Surgery.
  • Train and supervise intern, undergraduate, medical, and graduate student lab members.
  • Work as a member of the principal investigator's research team and contribute novel hypotheses, ideas, and develop novel methodologies.
  • Contribute and participate in the authorship of research publications and presentations.
  • Collect, analyze and graph data, conclude research projects in a timely manner, write reports, and manuscripts.
  • Engage in career development activities, apply for dedicated funding and contribute to lab-based grant proposals.
  • Perform experiments that may include behavioral, cellular, immunological, microbiological, molecular, physiological and/or virological assays.
  • Perform experimental animal surgery, tissue culture or modeling studies.
  • Perform analysis using microscopy, imaging or behavioral approaches.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, including analyzing and writing up results, and troubleshooting.
  • Design experiments and contribute to the preparation of research posters, manuscripts and grant applications, as needed.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • PhDor MD conferred by the start date.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience in vascular research.
  • Experience presenting abstracts, and manuscripts.
  • Knowledge of IRB.
