    About the Company Hiring: Our client is a regional service and distribution company with operations throughout the Northeast.

    About the Job: The Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal tax law through a series of systems and system controls that are designed to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
    • Prepare, analyze, and file sales, use, and other tax returns and filings for multiple divisions and entities and managing the tax return calendar.
    • Stay current on tax law changes and changes in the business activities of the company to provide appropriate guidance on the various tax-related policies and strategies.
    • Maintain and reconcile all tax general ledger accounts and evaluate all account balances.
    • Evaluate and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
    • Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
    • Research taxability of transactions in jurisdictions while monitoring legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation.
    • Oversee the customer and vendor tax exemption tracking process to ensure that all required tax exemption certificates are properly filed in database systems and available for audit.
    • Responsible for annual Form 1099 vendor reporting, including coordination of new vendor set-up process with accounts payable and purchasing.
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field. 3+ years of tax accounting experience.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Strong background in state sales and use tax, with knowledge of partnership, corporate and individual taxation. Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
    Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
