    SUMMARY

    The Custody Operations Team at The Haverford Trust Company is responsible for the daily administration and maintenance of client accounts. Team responsibilities include account openings and closings, receiving and delivering assets, account maintenance, distributions and contributions, money market and mutual fund trading, trade settlement/calls/options, trade allocations, income payments, corporate actions, gifting assets, securities maintenance, tax processing and reporting, client website administration and support, and reconciliation. Custody Operations is a key resource within Haverford for responding to account inquiries, problem resolution, and delivering quality client service.

    The Custody Operations Specialist on the Securities Team is responsible for settling and reconciling trades; paying dividends and interest; processing stock splits or mergers; researching and resolving trade settlement issues and asset out of balances; tax reviews of account transactions; maintaining and updating mutual fund accounts/positions; coordinating the processing of physical certificates for delivery to transfer agent; performs the valuation process for pooled investments; completes client gift requests and gift letters; and works closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment Officers and Shared Services team members to ensure the successful and timely transfers of accounts both internally and externally. These responsibilities require a high degree of quality control, the ability to evaluate complex situations, and assist with implementing best practices with third-party vendor policies.

    The Custody Operations Specialist also performs various reconciliations via Excel spreadsheets and assists in minimizing overdrafts in client accounts by communicating with administrative and investment teams regularly. As with all team members, this position cross trains within the team to ensure proper back up of all team functions.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Normal firm business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30AM 5:30PM EST
    • Working hours for this role may shift to compensate for T+1 processing and settlement
    • May be required to work additional hours as needed to meet expectations with little or no notice
    • Hybrid work schedule with set days to work from home and in the office in Radnor, PA
    • Periodical local travel may be required

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    1. Primary ownership of posting, settling, and reconciling mutual fund trade activity (including the generation of trade advices), posting dividends and interest, processing stock splits or mergers, and using subject matter expertise and discretion in researching and resolving trade settlement issues and asset out-of-balances
    2. Actively participating in and contributing to tax team review of asset and transaction activity, to ensure accurate client tax reporting
    3. Applying subject matter expertise to assess complex scenarios and determine best course of action to ensure accurate posting of relevant transaction activity, including notification to related teams
    4. Overseeing the valuation process for pooled investments; posting required transactions and considering excess cash balances or liquidity needs.
    5. Participating in decision processes related to establishing and implementing best practices with third-party vendors
    6. Reconciliating departmental security positions
    7. Processing security movements in conjunction with new and closing account processes

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education / Experience

    • BA or BS degree. Prefer Business, Finance, or similar field
    • Minimum 1-2 years experience working in a securities-related role
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
