    Job Description:
    What will you work on?
    The Senior Industrial Engineer plays a critical role in enhancing the performance of the Melissa & Doug warehouse and transportation operations across the U.S. This position is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives and capital projects that will reduce operating costs, improve safety outcomes, and elevate service metrics. Applying lean principles and data-driven analysis, the Industrial Engineer collaborates with internal warehouse and logistics teams, the I.E. and Analytics Senior Lead and cross-functional business partners to identify opportunities, recommend solutions, and support implementation of sustainable improvements across the distribution network.
    How will you create impact?
    Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement

    • Lead and support initiatives aimed at improving productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing service levels.
    • Apply Lean principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen) to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements.
    • Collaborate with warehouse teams to identify root causes of performance gaps and develop corrective actions.
    • Support teams in identifying opportunities to reduce indirect spend and improve operational cost efficiency.
    • Assist in harmonizing business processes across facilities to improve consistency and scalability.
    Labor Standards & Work Measurement
    • Conduct time and motion studies using MOST or similar techniques to establish engineered labor standards.
    • Develop and maintain labor planning tools to support workforce forecasting and scheduling.
    • Analyze indirect labor spend and identify optimization opportunities.
    • Support warehouse teams in developing and validating productivity standards for key operational activities.
    Project Management & Special Initiatives
    • Lead warehousing and logistics special projects, including peak planning and process optimization efforts.
    • Represent the logistics function in corporate initiatives such as ESG reporting and system upgrades.
    • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for SAP and WMS enhancements.
    • Support capital investment planning, including ROI analysis and implementation tracking.
    Change Management & Team Support
    • Support change management efforts related to systems, processes, and organizational initiatives.
    • Support SOP development for revised warehouse processes, labour standards, etc.
    • Identify training needs and lead sessions for internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on new practices.
    • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and supportive team environment.
    • Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
    • Provide input on strategic direction and operational priorities.
    Performance Reporting
    • Analyze operational data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
    • Develop dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across warehousing and transportation.
    • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to validate and communicate results of improvement initiatives.
    • Track and report on productivity gains and cost savings resulting from implemented projects.
    What are your skills and experience?
    • Industrial engineering experience in warehousing environment
    • Success leveraging lean principles to deliver continuous improvement and organizational change in warehousing environments Success developing labour standards
    • Advanced facility with Microsoft Excel, ERP/WMS systems (preferably SAP and Manhattan) and Labour Management tools (e.g. Manhattan LM). Ideally facility with SQL and report writing using SCI.
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for performance reporting
    • Strong knowledge of Lean principles (e.g., Muda, Mura, Muri, 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping) and ability to lead training and initiatives involving these principles
    • Proficiency in time studies / job analyses and labour standard development (e.g. using MOST - Maynard Operation Sequence Technique)
    • Ability to problem solve using conceptual thinking where minimal data is available, create a plan to collect and analyse critical data where required, and identify which approach is most appropriate in the circumstances.
    • Experience with warehouse layout optimization, material flow analysis, and indirect spend reduction
    • Ability to bridge the gap between current practices and best in class. Ability to separate out waste in daily activity to deploy and improve processes.
    • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and ROI analysis
    • Familiarity with local labour laws and safety standards (NJ, CA)
    • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all organizational levels
    The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in New Jersey is $105,000 to $115,000 Per Annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
