    Our client seeks a Design Engineer in Arkansas and New Hampshire to develop innovative mechanical subsystem designs for new and legacy products.

    This intermediate role in the R&D Department is suitable for mechanical engineers with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and relevant experience.

    The Design Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, conducts analyses, generates drawings, and ensures compliance with design standards.

    Responsibilities also include managing product changes, creating test plans, evaluating data, proposing cost-saving measures, and contributing to intellectual property development.

    Additionally, the Design Engineer provides technical support, follows safety protocols, and actively engages in continuous improvement initiatives.


    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Develop creative mechanical subsystem designs meeting product requirements and cost targets.
    • Generate drawings with functional dimensioning, appropriate GD&T, and ASME Y14.5 compliance.
    • Perform statistical tolerance stack analyses and identify quality assurance plans.
    • Independently conduct accurate sub-system analyses using tools like FEA, Motion, CFD, or other software.
    • Process change orders through the PLM system and determine part dispositions.
    • Create logical test plans, work with Test Technicians, and analyze test data.
    • Initiate design for manufacturability reviews, propose cost reduction methods, and evaluate inspection data.
    • Manage Intellectual Property through patent searches, applications, and trade studies.
    • Provide technical assistance to other departments, follow safety procedures, and participate in continuous improvement.
    • Adhere to firearm handling and range safety procedures.
    • Occasionally travel as needed.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Must be proficient in using CAD software to create parametric solid models and associated drawings (SolidWorks highly preferred).
    • Experience using a PLM system such as Agile, is preferred.
    • Must be capable of performing moderately complex analyses such as FEA, kinematic and dynamic motion, CFD, and/or heat transfer.
    • Must be able to generate clear, fully dimensioned, ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings of complex parts using logical datum structures and functional dimensioning schemes.
    • Must be familiar with GD&T symbology and standard inspection methods.
