    Description

    Summary



    You will serve as a PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER (O/A) in the Emergency Communication Center (ECC) of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.



    Duties

    • You will provide emergency fire, medical, and police services to the public by answering emergency 911, calls and responding by properly categorizing the calls, determining the appropriate response, and dispatching field personnel and equipment.
    • You will evaluate 911 calls, wireless Enhanced 911, and other emergency calls that may be received via commercial phone, emergency phone direct dial, 911 transfers from outside agencies, and/or radio.
    • You will provide Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system.
    • You will monitor status and availability of fire, medical, and police field units to ensure an appropriate response is made.
    • You will refer non-emergency callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies.
    • You will maintain reports and retrieve needed statistical data using the local authority Fire Incident Reporting System.
    • You will receive and dispatch appropriate public safety units to all arms, including but not limited to fire alarms, pull stations, smoke detectors, sprinklers systems, Haz-Mat alarms, hold-up alarms, intrusion alarms, and motion detectors.
