    Description

    Job Title: Maintenance Technician


    The company is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join the team at UAB Facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair, modification, replacement, and installation tasks on various equipment and systems.




    Essential Accountabilities:

    • Performs routine operations and preventive maintenance on chiller and refrigeration units, plumbing components and supporting equipment.
    • Assists in performing maintenance on electronic, digital, and pneumatic controls for chillers and refrigeration units.
    • Conducts inspections, testing, and maintenance tasks on motor windings, gear boxes, and electric motors.
    • Prepares equipment for inspections and performs housekeeping tasks.
    • Monitors and maintains proper levels of refrigerant, oil, and lubricants.

    Work Schedule:

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by the University.


    Starting Pay Range:
    $20.67 per hour (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)

    Requirements:
    High School diploma or GED and three years of related experience. HVAC experience is preferred.

    Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are necessary.

    Must meet underwriting guidelines for driving university vehicles.


    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Effective communication skills
    • Team player
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Knowledge of trades mechanics and electrical systems
    • Basic Refrigeration, Plumbing, and Electrical/Electronics knowledge
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
    • Work at heights and in confined spaces
    • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and climbing
