    Description

    Department/Unit: Children's Hospital Float Pool

    Work Shift: Float Pool_5_Day (United States of America)

    The Registered Professional Nurse evaluates, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout their care with a focus on progress towards discharge, including transitions within the acute care stay. Responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care by the caregiving team. Ensuring competent and compassionate patient care is consistently provided to customers in various settings.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

    • Contributing to a compassionate environment for patients, families, and colleagues
    • Demonstrating excellence in daily work and participating in quality improvement activities
    • Exhibiting positive service excellence skills to patients, visitors, and coworkers
    • Demonstrating effective teamwork and creating a collaborative work environment
    • Contributing to a safe environment by following procedures and protocols

    Assessment:

    • Collecting pertinent data
    • Integrating evidence-based assessment parameters
    • Prioritizing assessment data
    • Performing objective and subjective assessments

    Diagnosis and Planning:

    • Analyzing data to identify patient problems and formulating expected outcomes
    • Applying knowledge of disease processes for appropriate nursing diagnoses
    • Collaborating to formulate an individualized plan of care

    Implementation of the Nursing Plan of Care:

    • Implementing strategies for health promotion and care
    • Coordinating care with the team and community resources
    • Delivering patient/family education

    Evaluation:

    • Evaluating patient progress and effectiveness of interventions
    • Using assessment data to revise care strategies
    • Documenting patient improvement or deterioration

    Education and Leadership:

    • Practicing ethically and collaborating with caregivers
    • Serving as a charge nurse and preceptor
    • Promoting quality nursing practice and utilizing evidence-based services

    Organizational Requirements:

    • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to policies
    • Complying with departmental expectations and customer service standards
    • Participating in quality improvement activities
