Northwestern Medicine is seeking a fellowship trained BE/BC general Gastroenterologist to join our team in McHenry, IL, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

This position is a hospital-based position that will primarily provide inpatient care and manage the care of acute or critically ill patients.

This position will perform endoscopy generated from the emergency department and the inpatient consult service.

An ideal candidate should be competent in basic upper and lower endoscopy, enteral access (PEG placement), and management of GI emergencies such as upper and lower GI bleeding, food impactions, and management of volvulus.

The hospitalist will work in conjunction with the local gastroenterology practice.
Shared overnight call with a legacy gastroenterology group (inpatient/ED).

Overnight call will be to cover Emergency Department consultations and hospital patients, and will be shared equally between their group of 6 – planned q8 with 2 hospitalists.
