- Proactively participates as a team member in support of the total post-anesthesia care process
- Using two patient identifiers, identifies and validates the patient and procedure performed
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the recovery room/PACU area according to requirements
- Provides comfort and reassurance to patient
- Demonstrates ongoing competencies with patient assessment and appropriate interventions when variances occur
- Maintains patient's privacy and dignity
- Utilize the nursing process to perform safe and individualized nursing care, in the immediate post-anesthesia period
- Administers medication(s) per order of physician
- Accurately comprehends and interprets physician orders and direction
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of patient care
- Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation during post-anesthesia period
- Monitors and reports any abnormal observed complications to the anesthesia provider and physician
- Documents patient-care records and other forms accurately, legibly and in a timely manner, following policies and
- Develops a plan of care, based on patient needs, related to the procedure and type of anesthesia
- Assesses the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge
- Reviews post-procedure instructions including medication reconciliation and follow-up physician appointment with

- Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse license
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred
- Maintains BLS/ACLS certification
