    Diet Aide-Full Time-AM Shift

    I. BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    The diet aide is responsible for accurate and timely food service delivery (meals & nourishments) to the skilled nursing residents within compliance of all residents therapeutic diets. And is responsible for obtaining resident food and beverage preferences on admission as needed. And on a weekly basis as well as communicating updates and information provided by the Dietitian to the GHC Servers as needed.

    II. CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS SERVED BY POSITION:

    The skilled nursing residents, family member, guests, potential residents, staff and outside community/public.

    III. OUTCOME WHEN JOB IS DONE WELL:

    Residents provided food within dietary restrictions. Residents and family pleased with meals received.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    High School diploma or GED.

    V. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Six (6) months experience as server. Will train right person. Prefer Diet Aide exp., and/or current or previous education in Nutritional Sciences.

    VI. SKILLS, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR SPECIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

    Able to be a team player. Food Handlers license. Able to pass pre-employment physical, TB exam, and if necessary obtain a fingerprint clearance. Computer skills highly desirable with knowledge in MS Word. Will train.

    1. Maintains respect for resident's confidentiality & privacy.
    2. Maintain equipment and supplies in a safe manner
    3. Serve lunch and dinner according to prescribed diet order/food allergies and resident preferences. (Lunch/Supper PRN)
    4. Prepare and deliver Nourishments (10am, 3pm, & HS as requested) to Skilled Nursing & alert charge nurse upon arrival of nourishments.
    5. Maintain up-to-date list of resident assigned nourishments.
    6. Tally all selective menus prior to each meal & inform the cook of special menu needs prior to the meal.
    7. Maintain current dietary records to include Diet order/Drink preference/Adaptive equipment list, food allergies, food likes and dislikes.
    8. Distribute & help residents select a menu if requested by resident/family.
    9. Complete weekly QA Temperature check trays.
    10. Receive and make diet changes as ordered by physicians/Dietitian/SLP and verify accuracy.
    11. Visit residents as requested to update preferences/make meal rounds & identify preferences PRN.
    12. Clean up work areas including but not limited to steam table, serving area and cambro cart.
    13. Input and maintain diet information in access database.
    14. Assist with service in GHC.
    15. Disseminate updates and changes to GHC Servers once received from Dietitian
    16. Empty left over food in trash once returned to kitchen and place dishes in areas designated by the dishwasher

    1. Familiarize self with Seacrest Village mission/vision, rules, policies and procedures and same with the Jewish Tradition as observed by our residents, family and guests.
    2. Observes safety regulations; to include but not limited to wearing appropriate safety equipment, reporting work related injuries, using proper body mechanics, responds to fire/disaster drills/alarms and wearing security access name badge at all times.
    3. Payroll/HR-use current HRIS system to follow timekeeping policy utilizing timeclock to record all hours worked to include mandatory meal period of thirty minutes by the 5th hour of work and OT is authorized by supervisor.
    4. Wear appropriate clothing per facility and uniform policy.
    5. As a matter of SV policy and federal and state law; attends HIPAA training, follows HIPAA confidentiality and privacy policy, applies "minimum necessary", "needs to know" guidelines on all PHI information and reports non-compliance violations to Privacy Officer.
    6. As a mandated reporter per DOJ requirements; attends Mandated Reporter Abuse training meetings, will report all abuse incidents; physical, emotional, financial, sexual, verbal, completing the 1) SOC 341 form, mailing or faxing, 2) calling the ombudsmen and/or department of health services; for Assisted Living and Independent Living, call ombudsmen, and APS (adult protective services), and 3) informing supervisor so resident can be protected.
    7. Follow the corporate compliance standard and employee code of conduct, of performing work with an ethical behavior and utilizing proper business conduct and professional practice, that complies with applicable laws, rules and regulations; as serving the residents, preserving the organizational reputation, maintaining resident/employee trust, community respect. Reports non-compliance or concerns to Corporate Compliance Officer
    VIII. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    Beverage equipment, refrigerators, telephone, calculator, thermometer, appropriate serving utensils, pen, serving equipment, transport carts, walkie-talkie/radio, and computer.

    IX. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
    1. Maintain confidentiality of residents records
    2. Assist in dept. with other food related duties/functions as needed.
    X. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on their feet for several hours at a time. Hands, fingers, arms are frequently used for holding, stretching, and reaching. The employee will be expected to be able to climb or balance, kneel, stoop, bend and crouch. The employee must be able to lift or move, unassisted, up to 25 lbs. Vision and hearing are required due to the safety of our residents. Excellent vision and hearing. Good verbal communication
