    Duties * Establishes instructional design and development criteria using the Army Learning Policy and Systems; AND designs instructional materials for full-length residence, distance learning and mobile team training courses.

    * Designs instructional materials for full-length Space Operations Officer, Army Space Cadre, and ground-based midcourse defense (GMD) and ballistic missile defense systems (BMDS) courses.

    * Use various training strategies (i.e. discussion, gaming, tutorial, drills, simulations, computer-based instruction using instructional training aids (i.e. computer videos, CD-R, interactive software, video telecommunications, and print media).

    * Conducts studies of advanced courses or other significant matters such as instructional methods, failure and attribution, and other issues affecting Functional Area and Space Cadre personnel.

    * Establishes study and evaluation criteria, develops conclusions and/or recommendations, and analyzes reports from other training and doctrine sources. * Instructs resident, distance learning and mobile training courses depending on availability of students.

    * Monitors continuing state of the art changes in system software programs and hardware modifications which may affect technical aspects of course materials.

    * Follows the approved Program of Instruction (POI), prepares lesson plans for each subject, and makes modifications to adapt materials to the needs of the class.

    * Prepares and administers examinations, evaluates test results, correlates test results with other measures of student ability and makes recommendations to division chief on changes of student status.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

    * A pre-employment background investigation that includes contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.

    * The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.

    Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.

    * This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

    * This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

    While probationary the selectee can be terminated with limited appeal rights. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. * Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. * Must obtain and maintain an Instructor qualification.

    Basic Requirement:
    You must have you successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited or pre-accredited academic institution leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with a major or equivalent in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled

    OR Have specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of human resources information technology and of the methods and techniques of instruction.


    Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

    • Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
    • Supervising or administering a training program.
    • Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
    • Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the experience requirements listed below:

    Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower broad band NH-02 or equivalent grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates experience in tactical space operations or tactical space education/training, and planning, coordinating, and designing instruction; AND experience with design, analysis, or revision of course material using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) process, or equivalent instructional methodology.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02).

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (NH-02).
