    We are seeking an experienced Mohs Histology Technician to join our team at AboutSkin Dermatology and DermSurgery. The Mohs Histotech prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnostic interpretation. This employee works hand in hand with the medical director and his medical assistants. The associate in this position must determine the appropriate protocols, procedures, and quality control measures to follow and must consistently adhere to those guidelines.

    Responsibilities:
    • Demonstrate proficiency in dermatologic terminology (SCC, BCC, Melanoma, etc.).
    • Execute tasks such as processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping of tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
    • Accurately accession specimens and match slides with requisitions, ensuring precision.
    • Perform cutting of control slides and conduct troubleshooting and quality control tasks as required.
    • Contribute to routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, including cryostats, autoclave, centrifuge, and microscope.
    • Responsible for assembling CLIA binders in preparation for the CLIA audit and working directly with the clinical supervisor during the audit.
    • Manage lab supply inventory and assist in clinic duties such as suture removals and wound checks.
    • Abide by HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines and laws.
    • Perform all special stain procedures.
    • Provide care according to physician's instruction and in accordance with recognized techniques and procedures and established standards and policies to maintain the health and general well-being of the patient.
    • Provide pre-treatment and post-treatment education for both patient and family members.
    • Prepare equipment and paperwork for cosmetic treatments.
    • Setting up & assisting with procedures (i.e., biopsies, excisions, lasers, injectables, etc.)
    • Ability to assist in wound care, suture removals, staple removal.
    • Familiarity and knowledge of current products; ability to discuss and recommend them to patients in the room.
    • Ability to set up all lasers and assist on treatment (intraocular eye shields, numbing, visia photos, etc.).
    Professional Qualifications:
    • Strong understanding of healthcare administration and management.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, and move around for extended periods, with the capability to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
    • Efficient workload management and adaptability to new demands.
    • Ability to accept and delegate responsibilities, make sound judgments, and accurately assess when to refer issues to the administrative/management team.
    • Familiarity with EHR software for healthcare systems.
    • Excellent customer service with a patient-focused approach.
    • Must pass a background check.
    • Reliable transportation.
