    Pay Rate: $23/hour (20 + $3 Emergency Pay)

    Position Overview:


    JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Immigration Services Migrant Shelter team as the Logistics Support Specialist Lead.

    In this role, you have the opportunity to use your organization, coaching, and management skills and emergency response experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego.

    The Logistics Support Specialist Lead plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by providing critical support to asylum-seekers crossing our border.

    This position reports directly to the Shelter Operations Manager and works closely with the Shelter leadership team and the rest of the Logistics Support Specialists team.

    Jewish Family Service provides robust immigration legal services in addition to humanitarian and respite shelter for asylum seekers who have been released into the United States by the Department of Homeland Security.

    Based on the current COVID-19 pandemic, asylum seekers released by the government will stay in individual hotel rooms for their short stay instead of joining other families in a congregant living setting at a shelter.

    In partnership with the San Diego Rapid Response Network, JFS continue to provide case management, travel assistance, nutrition services, medical screenings, and financial support for migrant families.


    Responsibilities:

    • Direct supervision to Logistics Support Specialists; including time sheet management
    • Manage, coach, and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all persons connected to the logistics process
    • Participate in shelter leadership meetings
    • Plan, organize, and participate in Logistics Specialist team meetings.
    • Takes ownership for team cohesion
    • Coordinate with all functions of shelter operations to ensure guests needs are met
    • Creating and Developing Logistics process
    • Inventory management and stock auditing to meet the needs of shelter operations.
    • Review impact of logistics change
    • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy
    • Ensure staff are equipped and processes in place to safely transport shelter guests to/from partner organization and travel hubs.
    • Ensure shelter guests have all documents required for program exit and onward travel.
    • Operational assistance is provided to receiving new guests into the shelter.
    • Anticipate and identify the need of all the activities of the shelter
    • Provide support and direction to volunteers.
    • Receive, organize, and distribute donations.
    • Report needed supplies/donations
    • Work withing the client database
    • Create and complete daily reports as requested.
    • Handle requests in an efficient manner
    • Work in an environment that is fast paced, completing multiple tasks, efficiently, safely while meeting stringent timelines
    • Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with others, verbally and in writing.
    • Maintains inventory and orders supplies as directed
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    • Bilingual in Spanish

    Skills/Abilities Wed like you to Have:

    • Associates/Bachelor's degree in referred field and/or at least 1 year experience.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred, but not required

    Additional information required Upon Hire:
