    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This position performs specialized clerical duties and responsibilities such as but not limited to interviewing, screening, performing height, weight, and hemoglobin measurements, and providing low risk secondary nutrition education to applicants for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, which requires independent decision making. Records, evaluates, and verifies personal and financial data to determine initial and continuing eligibility of applicants and or clients for the WIC program. Responsible for issuance of WIC foods, EBT cards and VOC card to participants.

    Interviewing and Screening

    Interviews and screens all applicants for WIC by determining income, residency, and identification eligibility. Makes referrals to other public assistance programs. Schedules appointments, collects nutritional health risk data from medical records and routes for nutritional risk screening, and performs height, weight, and hemoglobin. Prepares routing sheets, Q-Matic labels and completes other documents required for eligibility. Screens immunization records or verifies in FL-SHOTS to make appropriate referrals. Screens and offers voter registration forms.

    Data Input and EBT Issuance

    Enter all family information data to include but not limited to: income, anthropometrics and hemoglobin data, group low risk secondary nutrition education and pertinent client notes or alerts data into FL-WiSE computer system database. Prints program documents as needed. Issues EBT cards, prints shopping list, and VOC for WIC clients. Ensures that the family information data is current and documented appropriately.

    Verifies and updates FL-WiSE system to reflect correct family information data to include but not limited to: clients' phone number, address, social security numbers, and names changes with appropriate documentation scanned in FL-WiSE.

    Maintains accountability and security of WIC EBT cards, VOC (Identification/Verification of Certification) cards.

    Counseling and Training

    Trains WIC participants in the proper use and redemption of WIC benefits and EBT cards in accordance with WIC policies and procedures. Within 2 weeks of hire, must successfully complete FL-WiSE EBT System training. Within 6 months of hire, must complete and pass competency on the Florida Paraprofessional Nutrition Training Guide series. Provides general nutrition to participants after training completion and documents activities according to WIC procedures. Assists in vendor training and management.

    Explains WIC eligibility, program benefits, rights, obligations and makes necessary referrals for immunizations, nutritionists, healthcare professionals and community service agencies.

    Records and Reports

    Organizes and maintains historical records, performs audits and inventories as assigned by supervisor, and updates records, reports, and inventories as assigned. Follows WIC procedure to appropriately file reports and/or provides supervisor for review, signature, and then filing.

    Prints the Daily Schedule and completes follow-up calls on missed appointments as a means of increasing participation. Reviews the Hemoglobin Required report monthly and takes corrective action on any missed labs required by WIC protocols.

    Monitors, reconciles, and prepares reports for end of day reporting and validation. Reports include but not limited to Voter's Registration, Over-Issuance, duplicate, EBT cand and formula inventories. Runs Participation reports to include but not limited to Shor Certs, Termed, Dual Enrolled, and Transfers to determine actions required for participation. Prepares and maintains retention and destruction records and or logs as required by State WIC office.

    Other related duties

    Performs follow-up on WIC participants alleged program abuse, food redemption procedures, and other programmatic issues, which may arise.

    Maintains a log of all laboratory tests on WIC participants, prints Hemoglobin daily reports from FL-WiSE, compare report and log, and submits to supervisor at the end of the month. Calibrates hematological and anthropometric equipment and maintains documentation on standards and cleaning per WIC guidelines. Responsible for processing requisitions to WIC purchasing staff for WIC laboratory supplies. Maintains all necessary inventories and logs pertaining to WIC lab equipment and supplies.

    Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and other staff development activities. Performs outreach activities. Completes EARs and time sheets per WIC and CHD guide.

    Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    2 years experience working with Microsoft Office products

    2 years experience working in customer service

    Experience working with children in a professional setting
