    Product Development Engineer

    Join our dynamic team at FMT, a leading plastic injection molding company specializing in household goods.

    As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and enhancing our innovative product line while ensuring efficient manufacturing processes.

    Essential Functions And Responsibilities

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop new plastic injection molded products for the household goods market.
    Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings, ensuring design accuracy and manufacturability.
    Conduct thorough feasibility studies to evaluate design concepts, considering factors like material selection, tooling requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
    Perform design iterations and simulations to optimize product performance, structural integrity, and moldability.
    Work closely with suppliers to source suitable materials and components that meet quality and sustainability standards.
    Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements.
    Continuously collaborate with production teams to streamline manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
    Provide technical support during tooling development, ensuring molds are designed for efficient and reliable production.
    Participate in design reviews, offering expertise to enhance product aesthetics, functionality, and market appeal.

    Stay up-to-date with industry trends, materials, and technologies related to plastic injection molding, suggesting innovative ideas to drive product differentiation.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
    Proven experience in product development within the plastic injection molding industry, preferably with a focus on household goods.
    Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and technical drawings.
    Strong knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling design.
    Experience with simulation software (e.g., Moldflow) for design analysis and optimization.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
    Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on design accuracy and manufacturability.
    Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements in the consumer goods industry.
    Adaptability to rapidly changing project requirements and priorities.
