    Job Description:
    We are seeking a highly experienced AS400 / RPG Developer to join our team on a long-term contract.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with RPG development (RPG Free, RPG III, RPG IV) and a solid background in the retail or grocery domain, specifically around order processing, billing, inventory, and invoicing systems.


    This role requires strong technical expertise in embedded SQL, change management tools, and AS400 environments, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Design, develop, and maintain AS400 applications using RPG Free, RPG III, and RPG IV.
    Analyze existing code to assess impacts of new changes and enhancements.
    Work with CL programs, embedded SQL, and SQL/400 or DBU for database operations.
    Utilize Implementer Tool for change management and Hawkeye Tool for impact analysis.
    Collaborate with business and operations teams to support order processing, billing, inventory, and invoicing workflows.
    Debug, test, and optimize AS400 applications for performance, stability, and reliability.
    Participate in system upgrades, integrations, and maintenance activities.
    Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, process flows, and coding standards.
    Communicate effectively with cross-functional and management teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery.


    Required Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
    10+ years of IT experience in applications development, systems analysis, and programming.
    Proven expertise in RPG (Free, III, IV) and AS400/IBM iSeries environments.
    Strong experience with embedded SQL, CL programming, and database operations.
    Hands-on experience with Implementer Tool and Hawkeye Tool.
    Prior experience in the retail or grocery domain with knowledge of order-to-cash processes.
    Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
    Strong communication and documentation skills.
