    The Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing day-to-day, university-wide server infrastructure including Windows
    Server and Linux. This position has responsibility for short and long term planning, vendor management, user service and
    satisfaction, and quality assurance. The Systems Administrator provides a computing infrastructure that is secure and
    compliant with PCI standards and other federal, state, and administrative regulations regarding information security;
    provides reliable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure support that is responsive to user needs. This position reports
    directly to the Sr. Director of Information Technology.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintain complex operating systems including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Microsoft Servers – 2012/2016/2019
    – running on multiple hardware platforms.


    Maintenance and operation of a multi-server/multi-site VMware environment.


    Maintenance and vendor management of servers, primarily HP.


    SAN experience, preferably with 3Par.


    Enhance and document systems and services.


    Plan for the upgrade and replacement of systems as appropriate.


    Maintenance of Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments including Hybrid Exchange and Microsoft Teams.


    Experience with SSO platforms including SAML and CAS.


    Tune and configure applications and subsystems such as, but not limited to:o

    SCT Banner,
    o

    Microsoft Exchange, IIS, ADS, and File and Print services,
    o

    Apache Web Services,
    o

    Database engines such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and MySQL.


    Design, program, test, and install tools to monitor and manage the back office systems and application environment.


    Work with external vendors in providing cloud based applications, external data centers, and cloud based
    environments.


    Actively participate in information security projects.


    Disaster Recovery procedures including monitoring system backups and off site storage, experience with
    CommVault preferred.


    Participates in the planning, development, and administration of an information technology strategic plan,
    departmental goals, and project budgets as assigned. May recommend goals and objectives.


    Contributes to the development of technological risk assessments and recovery plans for the College campuses to
    ensure business continuity and security in the event of a disaster and/or emergency. Helps maintain up-to-date
    documentation on all managed systems, including disaster recovery plans.


    Complete reports and summaries for management and/or users, including status reports, problem reports, progress
    summaries, change management, and system utilization reports as needed.


    Attend technical support committee meetings as needed.


    Participation in the development and implementation of procedures and documentation to keep systems operational
    and well-maintained.


    Establishes and maintains appropriate network of professional contacts. Keeps current on related technology
    trends, direction, and issues. Participates in professional organizations, meetings, and/or seminars. Makes
    recommendations to the Sr. Director regarding technology changes as needed.


    Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during nonbusiness hours on occasion.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's degree required or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. Related
    certifications desirable.


    Five to seven years' experience in systems administration, preferably in a higher education environment, including
    an extensive and current working knowledge of Linux, VMware, and Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019 Server OS
    is required.


    Experience with other operating systems such as Windows 10 and Mac OS X as well as a broad range of hardware
    platforms is desirable.


    Experience in systems programming and scripting is required.


    Experience with backups, storage, SANs, LDAP, email, and computer security is a must. Experience with
    applications and tools including Banner, Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, web based productivity applications, cloud based
    applications and vendors, and open source solutions are highly desirable.


    Knowledge of computer hardware and software used in a networked and web-based environment.


    Computer and network security experience including Cisco network devices, firewalls, vulnerability scanning,
    intrusion detection and prevention, vulnerability remediation, and log monitoring is a major plus.


    Knowledge of federal/state/local laws and regulations (i.e., TAC 202, DIR, ADA, EIR, FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI.) is
    helpful.


    Knowledge of IT designs, setups, installation, implementation, and maintenance.


    Knowledge of security issues, crisis management, and business continuity.


    Knowledge of existing, evolving, and new technology resources and experience migrating to next-generation
    technology to improve college performance.


    Knowledge of basic business principles and business/industry-specific terminology. Knowledge of business case
    analysis helpful. Knowledge of quality assurance concepts and procedures needed.


    Experience working with vendors in cloud based environments.


    HP server and Cisco networking experience.


    Experience with or knowledge of service provision best practices (i.e., ITIL)

    Candidate must be able to work efficiently and cooperatively in a multitasking, collaborative team environment. Strong
    interpersonal and communications skills are required. Applicants must be accessible via cell phone and perform on-call
    duties outside of core business hours when needed.
