- Tree Identification and Assessment: Accurately identify dead and dying trees affected by drought and other environmental conditions.
- Vegetation Clearance Inspection: Inspect overhead power lines for proper vegetation clearance.
- Work Verification: Perform inspection and work verification on post pre-inspection and post tree-trimming work.
- Hazard Assessment: Inspect and assess trees for hazard or danger potential.
- Property Evaluation: Assess individual property and prescribe work needed to adhere to current VM guidelines.
- Customer Communication: Communicate with customers/landowners concerned about current VM practices, discuss individualized property plans, and document visits.
- Storm Response: Respond to storm events across the system outside of normal business hours.
- VM Storm Desk Management: Manage the VM Storm Desk, including the use of I-Dispatch, Smart Grid Reports, and email updates.
- Aerial Audits: Perform aerial audits for transmission.
- Special Projects: Provide support and assistance on special projects assigned by the utility.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Forestry, Horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist Designation.
- Texas Pesticide Applicators License.
- Minimum of two (2) years related utility experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Knowledge of FAC-003 and proficiency with GPS mapping tools.
- Knowledge of electric utility facilities and hardware.
- Knowledge of vegetation management and herbicide use preferred.
- Demonstrate proficiency in dealing with escalated customer issues.
- Demonstrate professionalism in customer relations and organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain in a safe manner.
- Skilled with technology and possess Microsoft Office and smartphone skills.
- Capable of operating a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus, not required.
- Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods.
- Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces.
