The Beach House Restaurant at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is a vibrant, casual beachside dining destination featuring both indoor and open-air seating just steps from the Gulf. Known for its fresh coastal flavors, lively bar, and relaxed atmosphere, the Beach House delivers memorable dining experiences for resort guests, owners, and locals alike.
Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to Beach House recipes and Sandestin standards. This hands-on role requires efficiency, consistency, and attention to detail in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor beachfront kitchen. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment and thrives under pressure while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain quality, consistency, and portion control for all dishes
- Assist with prep work including chopping, portioning, and ingredient preparation
- Set up and stock workstations prior to service
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the kitchen leadership
- Ensure all food is stored, labeled, and rotated according to safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and prep areas
- Follow all sanitation, food safety, and health regulations
- Collaborate with culinary and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
- Assist with closing duties including cleaning, stocking, and resetting stations
- Adapt to menu changes, special requests, and high-volume periods
- Support a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture
Qualifications
- Previous cook or line experience preferred, especially in a high-volume or resort setting
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and guest-focused
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Food Handler certification required (or ability to obtain)
Work Environment
- Combination of indoor kitchen and open-air service areas
- Fast-paced, high-volume seasonal resort environment
- Exposure to heat, humidity, and kitchen equipment
- Frequent movement and standing for long periods
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods (8+ hours per shift)
- Lift, carry, and move items up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Bend, stoop, reach, twist, and kneel during prep and service
- Work in hot, humid, and sometimes cramped kitchen conditions
- Maintain stamina during busy meal periods and high-volume service
- Use hands and arms continuously for cooking and prep tasks
