    Summary:

    The Lube Technician's main function of responsibility is to keep the processing and packaging equipment greased and lubricated according to established guidelines. Other responsibilities will include assisting mechanics as necessary.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Grease / lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to established guidelines.
    • Maintain motorized equipment such as: loader, backhoe, dump truck, etc. according to established guidelines.
    • Keep accurate, complete, and legible records in English.
    • Assist Mechanics as needed.
    • Use caution around moving parts and equipment.
    • Keep areas of responsibility clean and well maintained.
    • Notify Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Foreman, Shift Mechanic, Shift Manager and/or Assistant Shift Manager of any problems with equipment and follow-up on any needed repair.
    • Completes all other responsibilities as necessary.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of machines and tools, specifically potato processing machinery, including use, repair, and maintenance knowledge.
    • A strong mechanical background helpful.
    • Able to read and understand parts manuals.
    • Must be able to closely follow operational instructions.
    • Must be able to complete certification of training in lockout-tagout, fall protection, confined space, and be licensed in forklift operation.
    • Prior maintenance experience or mechanical aptitude helpful.
    • Use hand tools proficiently.
    • Must provide own hand tools and lockable toolbox.
    • Adhere to and practice all company and regulatory safety policies and requirements. Education: Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical Requirements:
      • Must be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
      • Must be able to lift on a regular basis up to 50 lbs without assistance, and 100 lbs with assistance.
      • Must not be allergic to dust or chemicals.
      • Able to climb ladders and stairs, and work at different heights.
      • Ability to work with, in, and or around all types of grease, oil, lubricants or adhesives.
      • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling, crouching and fingering required.
      • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

      Supervisor Duties: This position has no supervisory authority. Will be required to report any problems to the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Foreman, Shift Mechanic, Shift Manager, and/or the Assistant Shift Manager.
      Working Conditions: Normal plant / manufacturing environment. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Lube Technician must be available all days and all hours. Position is very physical / hands on. Will be exposed to high levels of noise, extreme heat or cold, steam, dust, and wet, humid, and slick conditions, and all other environmental factors normally attributed to a manufacturing environment.
