    Summary



    This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, DOL, Personnel Support Department, MWR Division, Base Alameda, Alameda, CA.



    Duties


    This position serves as the Morale, Well-Being and Recreation (MWR) Director and is responsible for the administration, planning, supervision and direction of the MWR Division at U.S. Coast Guard Base Alameda, CA. The incumbent of this position serves as the unit technical expert in MWR programs and management of those programs.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

    Typical work assignments include:

    * Directing and managing the MWR Division staff consisting of appropriated and NAF employees, and military personnel.

    Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments and capabilities of employees.

    Developing and applying guidelines, standards and procedures for recreation planning elements of a complex, sensitive or multi-faceted nature.

    Defining innovative and creative changes in recreational programs to meet the differing local recreational needs of a wide variety of patrons.

    Identifying trends, conducting surveys, gathering statistics and making changes in programs to meet the needs of patrons.

    Serving as the technical expert in wellness and recreational programs, providing sound recommendations to the command and promoting management sponsored policies and goals such as safety, cost reductions, beneficial suggestions, and other related programs.

    Developing, executing and monitoring of the MWR budget for both appropriated and non-appropriated funds personnel.
