    JOB SUMMARY:


    The Pilot Plant Engineering Co-op is a full time, 8-month assignment, that supports the Pilot Plant team by completing tasks such as, process and safety improvements, documentation management, and process troubleshooting.

    The Co-op position is to allow the individual to be exposed to multiple facets within engineering and assist in creating long term career aspirations.

    This position works closely with Pilot Plant leadership and engineers, Pilot Plant Technicians, Chemists, R&D, Safety Manager, and other Engineers in the organization.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Engineering Support - provide engineering capability for the facility including general engineering, mass & energy balances, PFD's, P&ID's, lay-outs and general design.

    Safety Support - assist with process safety management documentation and procedures, complete necessary permits for confined space, lock-out tag-out, and other safety procedures, and assist with environmental permitting.

    Operations Support - shadow Plant Operations, Maintenance and Chemists to understand different areas of the pilot plant and the oilseed process.

    Project Support - execute on a capital project, including development of scope of work, develop and follow a budget, equipment specification, purchase requests, and coordination of contractors.

    Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


    QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:


    Requires a High School Diploma or equivalentProgress towards a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering programAbility to work 40 hours per week during the term:January 2025- August2025orMay2025- December 2025.Shift work (nights) for minimum of 2 weeks for training/shadowingPlant environment approximately 75% of the time; some exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise.

    May work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions.

    Experience with safety processes such as confined space, lock-out tag-out, fall protection, NFPA 36 and PSM, a plusExperience with 3D Drawing Capability in Autocad Plant 3D, a plusStrong Microsoft office skills.

    Self manages; takes initiative and able to collaborate across geographies and functions in a matrixed environmentGood written and verbal communication skills.
