Job summary
Sets up and operates printing press machines (Flexo Roto Letter Sheet Fed or Screen etc.) Maintains production schedule by assisting operator in setting up making adjustments resolving difficulties and substituting to maintain workflow Gathers supplies by following requisition orders obtaining stock material tooling jigs and other needed supplies and containers recording receipt and usage Monitors basic press room supplies and submits requisitions this includes the incoming inspection and inventory control for cylinders plates and supplies Assists in press operations documentation by providing data on order output ink and material usage calculates basic math reading measuring rule machine counters other gauges apparatus filling in required paperwork per department work instructions Prepares press Sets up installs runs all required stations such as plates screens cylinders cutting dies ink adhesive pans Regulates controls press Adjusts settings to produce quality products in accordance to manufacturing customer specifications quality standards Verifies output with proofs on file Quality Assurance department Identifies press run conditions Visually inspects output manually checks dimensional characteristics matches color standards calibrates registrations works with Quality Assurance Inspecting personnel Documents press operations Notes order output ink material usage calculates basic math reads measuring rule machine counters gauges apparatus completes required paperwork per department work instructions Completes press operations Obtains Quality Assurance approval segregates marks rejected material records summarizes process per department work instructions Performs necessary S activities preventative maintenance Solves problems troubleshoots Ensures safe proper operation equipment Completes maintenance requirements follows manufacturers instructions troubleshoots malfunctions calls repairs Basic Qualifications Education High School Diploma GED vocational training printing technology equivalent combination education skills Experience Press Operator Completion apprenticeship program year(s) experience operating flexographic presses equivalent combination education skills Basic material knowledge Reads follows instructions Attention detail trouble shooting mathematical aptitude reading measuring rule effective communication skills Experience Press Operator Sr year(s) experience operating flexographic presses equivalent combination education skills Proficiently sets-up run at least Press machines Extensive material knowledge Reads follows instructions High degree of attention details trouble shooting mathematical aptitude reading measuring rule effective communication skills Physical Requirements Employee stand bend kneel walk sit balance handle feel objects tools controls reach hands arms Lift move lbs Specific vision abilities close distance color peripheral depth ability adjust focus Working Conditions Manufacturing environment Hearing protection recommended Hair beard nets smocks gloves products functions except tape Exposure manufacturing equipment moving parts cutters Exposure odors associated manufacturing
