    Summary: Responsible for identifying necessary vehicle service and performing the repair, service, and/or maintenance work.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on diesel engines.
    • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, fluid level checks, and filter replacements.
    • Test and inspect parts and components of diesel engines.
    • Troubleshoot and repair computer control systems and electronic components.
    • Disassemble and reassemble diesel engines and components.
    • Repair and replace worn and damaged parts and components.
    • Adjust and calibrate diesel engine components and systems.
    • Inspect and repair fuel injectors and fuel pumps.
    • Troubleshoot and repair emission systems on diesel engines.
    • Diagnose and repair cooling systems on diesel engines.
    • Test and repair electrical systems, including wiring, switches, and fuses.
    • Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
    • Participate in required training.
    • Record all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.
    • Follow Safeguards rules and regulations.
    • Demonstrate the Company's Core Values.
    • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
    • Observe all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience:

    Knowledge of diesel engines and their components. Aptitude for manual labor and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    • Experience with general maintenance and repair of diesel engines.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with diesel engine components.
    • Proficient in the use of electronic engine diagnostic tools.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Valid Driver's License

    Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer.

    State inspection/emissions license required by State.

    All required manufacturer fundamental training and/or NAPA training provided by HAG.

    Meets and/or exceeds manufacturer requirements for ASE tests.

    Completed manufacturer training to perform: warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles, PDI's, maintenance, and minor repairs.

    Computer Skills:

    Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system.

    Communication Skills:

    Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

    Attendance Expectations:

    The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to lift up to (50) pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    Environment Demands:

    Duties are performed primarily in the service area. Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions. Frequently interacts with customers, service advisors and the service manager.

    Verbal and Writing Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.
