    Recreation Specialist


    to join our team Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Recreation Specialist for our City Sanctuary Facility for Families w/ Children in Staten Island, NY.

    As the Recreation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, ensuring a nurturing and enriching environment for the families at our facility.

    Homes for the Homeless, Inc.

    (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in shelter as well as those in the neighboring community.

    On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, afterschool clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Organize family structured activities that can be enjoyed by parents and their children.
    Organize and supervise team games and sporting events for families to enjoy together.
    Lead arts & crafts projects.
    Ensure the safety and engagement of children in assigned activities.
    Assist with events, fairs, and holiday parties.
    Additional duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Recreation.


    REQUIREMENTS
    High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.

    Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish, strongly preferred.
    Excellent organizational and planning skills.

    Experience leading activities with children, teens, and adults.

    This position requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate program schedule and special events.
