    Job Description

    Ka'ala Systems Technology Corporation seeks Telecommunications Mechanics to provide technical support and be responsible for overall maintenance and repairs of Base Telecommunications Services (BTS) at Holloman AFB, NM. The Telecommunications Mechanic installs, tests, troubleshoots, programs, maintains, and repairs digital switching equipment, Audix voice mail system, attendant consoles, power and ringing relay racks, miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and computer data circuits and related equipment required in the central switching office. Individual may assist switch technicians and cable splicers with installing, maintaining, and trouble-shooting fiber optic cable systems. Prefer individuals with global knowledge of how BTS operates under government contracts including:

    Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) O&M

    • Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs)
    • Switch Power Tests
    • Spare Conductor Tests
    • Manhole Inspections
    • Cable Analysis
    • Terminal Analysis
    • As-Builts Drawings using Visio

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Installs/removes, tests and troubleshoots telephone, radio and alarm systems as required.
    • Analyzes software and hardware to isolate system failures.
    • Maintains central office records and performs administrative duties including month end billing and other financials.
    • Maintains helpdesk and generates trouble tickets.
    • Provides administrative support to the Project Manager.
    • Ability to work both independently (with little supervisory) direction and as a team player.
    • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively and work productively with other staff in the workplace.
    • Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules with knowledge/awareness of safety issues.
    • Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent customer service solutions and interact with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or GED, required. Associates Degree or higher preferred.
    • Minimum of three (3) years' experience performing equipment troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance for structured cabling systems and radio systems.
    • Minimum of three (3) years' experience coordinating helpdesk and trouble tickets.
    • Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive repairs under loose supervision.
    • Must be fluent in English and able to read, write and follow instructions (including diagrams, flow charts and pictures).
    • Basic computer/PC knowledge required including; spreadsheet software, word processing software and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
    • Visio experience drafting As Built drawings is highly desired.
    • Valid driver's license, current vehicle registration and certificate of insurance are required for privately owned vehicles seeking permission to access the air force base.
    • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain/maintain requirements for military base access.
