    Role description:


    Arcadis is seeking a entry-level Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our established, multi-disciplinary team in our Albany, New York office.

    This is an entry-level opportunity for a motivated individual looking for career growth in the environmental consulting field.

    Role accountabilities:

    Arcadis provides multiple onboarding and development programs created for our young professionals that will expand professional growth and help drive creativeness, innovation, and greater integration within our local, national, and global teams.


    Office responsibilities may include the following:
    Conducting project related research (reviewing historical data, applicable regulations, etc.)

    Engineering design for remediation systems, including soil, groundwater, and soil vapor intrusion remedial system and in-situ technology treatment design and assessments

    Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of remedial systems

    Site characterization, including data compilation and evaluation

    Assisting with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and other forms of written correspondence

    Evaluation of remedial technologies and preparation of feasibility studies

    Remedial cost estimating support

    Preparing design specifications, drawings, and construction documents

    Assistance with project permitting activities

    Field activities may include the following:
    Oversight of contractors (e.g., excavation, construction)

    Oversight, implementation, operation, maintenance and monitoring of field pilot tests and remedial systems for various remediation technologies

    Conducting field tests (hydraulic, air flow/vacuum, geotechnical, etc.)

    Soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air sampling in compliance with State and Federal standards


    This is a full-time entry-level position that requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to perform field work.

    This position is expected to support various projects from environmental investigation through design, permitting and remediation. The successful candidate will be working alongside and supporting task managers, technical experts, and project managers on multiple projects. Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include travel and field work.


    During some periods, field work is expected to be as much as 50 to 75 percent of the candidate's time with some travel requiring hotel stays.

    Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.


    In summary, the ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will be detail oriented, well organized, dependable, and able to work independently and in groups.


    Qualifications & Experience:
    Required Qualifications

    BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline

    A current valid driver's license and clean driving record.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or CADD

    Independent study or Honors project

    EIT certification
