    General Summary:

    The Assistant Professor in Nursing assumes a leadership role in the program and courses of which they are teaching; demonstrates teaching excellence; participates in recognized activities of scholarship; participates in service within the College and in the community; and is a member of a professional organization.

    The Assistant Professor demonstrates implementation of the mission, vision, goals and values of the College as well as the philosophy of the division in which he/she is assigned.The Assistant Professor assumes an active role in the systematic evaluation of the program/College and accreditation activities.

    The Assistant Professor is responsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the theoretical and clinical/lab components of assigned courses.

    Principal Job Functions:

  • *Plans, implements and evaluates classroom and clinical activities according to College policies, course credits, course outcomes and available resources; facilitates and provides instruction to students; and assesses student learning in the classroom and clinical setting.
  • *Maintains professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues and serves in faculty roles of advisor, mentor, role model, advocate, facilitator and competent educator and practitioner.
  • *Conveys knowledge and principles of the discipline clearly and concisely in the classroom and clinical setting.
  • *Utilizes a variety of educational strategies to promote student development of critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, clinical competency and life-long learning.
  • *Manages the education environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience.
  • *Adapts teaching to varied delivery methods including distance learning options.
  • *Assumes active role in activities directed toward service and community betterment.
  • *Is a participating member of a professional organization related to areas of practice or higher education.
  • Education and Experience:

    Nursing Program:Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing and licensure as a registered nurse in Nebraska or compact state required.Minimum of three years experience in field of practice required.Minimum of one year of teaching in higher education academic setting preferred.
